Check In with Ms. Cromie

Dear Bobcat Families,

My name is Jordan Cromie, the new school counselor! I am so excited to become part of this incredible learning community. I wanted to take a moment to share a little bit about myself with you all. I grew up here in Elko, Nevada where I continue to spend my free time outdoors swimming, hunting, and fishing with family and friends. I have always had a passion for leading children to a path of positive mental health as well as academic and personal achievement. My background is in human development and family studies, addiction treatment services, and I am a certified family life educator. I have worked closely with students K-8th in the counseling field for the past five years. 

I am looking forward to this year’s counseling activities, which will include individual or group counseling, whole class lessons (30 minutes, roughly two times per month), and observations. Many of these activities will focus on school success helping students learn ways to build positive social skills, gain confidence in their ability to interact with others, and learn ways to deal with problems and conflicts constructively. I will continue to use Second Step® curriculum this year, as well as other elementary school counseling supplementary activities and lessons.
